Switzerland remains one of the world\u2019s most successful and competitive economies, despite global challenges, including geopolitical tensions and the slowdown in European growth. In your view, what will be the key issues that will determine our country\u2019s prosperity over the next ten years?<\/b><\/p>

Swiss prosperity is built on trust, of which the \u00abSwiss made\u00bb label \u2013 a mark of reliability \u2013 is a direct expression. It is important to consolidate this trust by prioritising innovation, which has enabled Switzerland \u2013 an Alpine country with no natural resources \u2013 to rise to become one of the world\u2019s most dynamic markets.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The new agreements between Switzerland and the European Union are giving rise to as much hope as they are debate. Are they a strategic necessity to safeguard our country\u2019s competitiveness, or should Switzerland seek to further strengthen its independence from Brussels?<\/b><\/p>

Beyond the peace project it embodies, Europe is our leading economic partner. As such, stabilising our relations with Brussels is of systemic importance. Contrary to what some claim for ideological reasons, this is in no way about undermining our sovereignty, but about enabling our country \u2013 geographically situated at the heart of Europe \u2013 to maintain and even strengthen its relations with these key partners. Predictability is key. The Bilateral Agreements III contribute to this. The vitality of our economy \u2013 and therefore our jobs \u2013 depends on it.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Against a backdrop of increased international competition, tax pressure and rising energy costs, how can Switzerland maintain its appeal to businesses, investors and talented individuals?<\/b><\/p>

Attractiveness cannot be imposed; it is built up patiently. Switzerland has demonstrated this by combining key factors such as an attractive corporate tax regime, access to a skilled workforce, high-quality infrastructure and a particularly enviable quality of life. That said, we cannot rest on our laurels and rely on the advantages of our current position. Indeed, competition is fierce, and Switzerland is at a disadvantage, particularly due to its cost structure, which is exacerbated by the strength of the franc. It is therefore vital to strive for excellence on a daily basis by strengthening these key attributes, ensuring that we make life easier for our entrepreneurs and minimising bureaucratic red tape.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Switzerland has exceptional strengths in the fields of innovation, research and artificial intelligence. In your view, should we prioritise light regulation to encourage innovation, or, on the contrary, a stricter framework to ensure public confidence and protect citizens?<\/b><\/p>

It is a delicate balance; however, as a liberal humanist, I remain convinced that, whilst the imposition of a regulatory framework is desirable, state intervention must be limited to allow economic actors to realise their full creative potential.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Against a backdrop of increasingly polarised debate, are you concerned that certain political decisions are driven more by electoral considerations than by Switzerland\u2019s long-term economic interests?<\/b><\/p>

Unfortunately, this fear has proved to be well-founded. Politics is all too often dictated by electoral agendas. Fortunately, there are those who are committed to prioritising policy based on concrete projects, transcending partisan divisions and demonstrating the courage that must guide long-term political action.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

In my view, \u00ableadership\u00bb is fuelled by the values that drive us, combined with sound professional knowledge, along with the ability to listen and inspire confidence.
