Sustainable investment has come under pressure in recent years. Is it still at the heart of investors' concerns or is it losing ground?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

As a trustee, BlackRock invests on behalf of its clients to help them achieve their investment objectives. Our priority is to understand and manage risk, anticipate our clients' needs and help them achieve their long-term goals. BlackRock is a business founded on the principles of risk management, to enable more informed decision-making in the investment of our clients' capital.<\/p>

In the same way that we analyse geopolitical, demographic or interest rate risks, climate risk is an investment risk that our teams assess when executing our clients' mandates. We have been consistent on this point since our first letter to clients on this subject in 2020.<\/p>

Sustainable investment is therefore still very much in vogue. One of BlackRock's investment beliefs is that the energy transition is a mega-force shaping economies. We see the energy system increasingly at the intersection of major trends such as AI, geopolitical fragmentation and the low-carbon transition.<\/p>

The BlackRock Investment Institute forecasts that growth in both traditional and renewable energies will be needed to meet the sharp rise in global demand for electricity - particularly for large-scale capacity - driven by the development of AI and the growing need for cooling in emerging markets. Renewable energies are helping to meet this new demand, rather than replacing traditional energies.<\/p>

Many major European clients are pursuing decarbonisation as an investment objective or have made commitments to carbon neutrality. Sustainable and transition investment is therefore a priority for them. Illustrating the relevance of our capabilities, they have entrusted BlackRock with the management of \u20ac1,000 billion of sustainable and transition assets worldwide, representing an increase of 850 % between 2019 and 2024.<\/p>

Our broad range of solutions also supports this momentum. With over 400 sustainable iShares ETFs worldwide, investors can access sustainable exposure in a transparent, efficient and scalable way - ensuring solutions at every stage of their sustainability journey.<\/p>

Against this backdrop, investment opportunities abound. But given the complexity, we believe that investors need to take a selective, active and data-driven approach to navigating this ever-changing energy landscape.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Technology, and in particular artificial intelligence, is profoundly transforming the asset management industry. How is BlackRock already harnessing AI in its operations, and how far can automation improve investment decisions without losing the human dimension?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Artificial intelligence has been part of BlackRock's investment processes and investment technologies for many years. It has played a key role in the evolution of BlackRock's systematic investment approach for almost two decades, with investors in our alpha systematic strategies relying on AI to navigate the themes influencing markets and extract investment insights from textual data.<\/p>

The teams use large-scale language models to improve the accuracy of textual analysis and refine the construction of thematic portfolios. AI - including machine learning and natural language processing - is also at the heart of our Aladdin (Enterprise and Wealth) and eFront investment and risk management technologies, with a particular focus on robust governance, customer-centric product development and user experience.<\/p>

We are convinced that AI is a long-term mega force, the implications of which will be felt far and wide, across borders and sectors. Automation enhances scale and accuracy while strengthening the human dimension, freeing up time for deeper customer engagement and better results.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

As Swiss investors increasingly seek transparency, accessibility and solutions aligned with their long-term objectives - and not just financial performance - what trends are you seeing and how is BlackRock adapting its offering?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Clients rely on BlackRock for a comprehensive range of solutions covering public and private markets, active and index strategies, as well as options such as sustainable and transition investments. We are constantly adapting our offering to meet these changing expectations.<\/p>

Two major trends are currently emerging in Switzerland: the \u00abdemocratisation\u00bb of ETF savings plans and access to private markets.<\/p>

The use of ETFs in savings plans was democratised in 2024 thanks to recurring purchase options and split functionality, making investments more accessible, transparent and profitable. Building wealth depends on regularity, not market timing. Making investing a habit, even with small amounts invested regularly regardless of market fluctuations, is one of the most effective ways of achieving long-term financial well-being.<\/p>

In the private markets universe, BlackRock has played a leading role in the roll-out of Long Term Asset Funds and European Long Term Investment Funds (LTAF and ELTIF), offering retail investors access to private markets for the first time, with lower investment amounts and liquidity. The new ELTIF 2.0 regulations allow investors to dynamically manage their asset allocation, including investments in private markets, without having to tie up their capital for eight years or more.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

When you talk to the younger generations of investors, many express a desire to \u00abinvest differently\u00bb. According to BlackRock's People & Money study, conducted with YouGov in 2025, there are 1.2 million ETF investors in Switzerland, almost double the number in 2022. ETF adoption is among the highest in Europe, with 35% of investors using ETFs. 18-34 year olds favour simplicity and ease of access: 30 % say they invest in ETFs because they only need to buy one fund, compared to 16 % among investors aged 35 and over. Combined with digital access to investments, this is the main driver of the continued growth of young ETF investors.<\/p>

According to BlackRock's People & Money: Spotlight on Crypto study, crypto-assets are also playing an increasingly central role for Generation Z. Switzerland already boasts one of the highest adoption rates in Europe, with 34 % of investors holding crypto assets, a proportion that is growing rapidly. For NextGen investors, crypto assets are not just seen as a speculative bet, but also as a way to participate in innovation. Importantly, the next wave of adoption is becoming more diverse, with more women and a wider range of investment objectives - from long-term growth to diversification.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

In a highly competitive environment, particularly in the face of fast-growing financial centres such as Singapore, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Switzerland has a number of advantages: political stability, business-friendly and innovation-friendly policies, and a reliable tax system. It also has first-rate academic institutions and, thanks to its well-established apprenticeship system, a large pool of highly qualified young professionals. The professionalism and international tradition of its financial services sector remain key assets. It will also be essential for Switzerland to foster an appropriate regulatory framework in order to maintain its lead in the area of digital assets, where it has always been a pioneer.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
